Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course is a gem in the heart of British Columbia, Canada. The course itself is a desert course which weaves its way through the stunning canyons of Oliver, BC. Originally the course was designed to be 9 holes, however later in 2001 the second nine was added to make Nk’Mip a full 18 hole championship golf course. And what a golf course it has become! The course can be challenging yet fun for all level of golfers, as it can play anywhere from 5400 yards to 6800 yards depending on which tees you play from. Regardless of distance there are several challenges that every golfer will encounter throughout this golf course, making focused at all times a must!
Nk’Mip offers an exceptionally high standard when it comes to both condition and enjoyment. There are two nines offering a distinctly different look and feel. The front nine is known as “the canyon nine” and integrates all of the local elements to create a tricky environment for every golfer that dares take it on. However, when you manage to get through the front, the welcoming back 9 begins to open up more and offer a chance to really shoot a good score on the way back to the “19th hole”. Recently the golf course has added a new 17th and 18th hole to make the finish even more spectacular than ever before.
One of the most amazing things about Nk’Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course is that it stays true to both its heritage and the nature that surrounds it. Scattered throughout the golf course you will see signs of the natives that have once graced its land, Meanwhile the course manages to meander through several environmentally sensitive areas that are marked to help protect the natural plant and wildlife of the area.
As the sun splashes through the mountains that tower over and surround the golf course, you will most certainly want a camera with you to capture some of the most picturesque, unique and stunning holes you will see on any golf course in the world.
For a truly unique experience, don’t forget to rent your very own segway-like personal golf cart called a “Golf Board” to get you around the course!
The rest of the facilities are equal to if not even better than the golf course itself! The practice facilities include a 14 bay driving range with 5 target greens to aim at before your round. Balls are provided free of charge to ensure you are all practiced up for your round. Alongside the range are separate chipping and putting greens to sharpen your short game skills. The clubhouse hosts a quaint yet delicious restaurant called the “geckos grill” which is most certainly a must for any golfer post round.
